Pack Odds Calculator
Enter the stated odds (the "1 in N" from the wrapper) and how many packs.
How to Use It
- Find the stated odds on the wrapper or sell sheet, written as 1 in some number.
- Enter that number and how many packs you plan to open.
- Read your chance of at least one hit, and the average number expected.
- Remember: this is probability, not a promise. Boxes bust and boxes hit big.
Before you rip, make sure buying packs beats buying the single in where to buy hockey cards.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate my odds of pulling a card?
If a hit falls 1 in N packs, your chance of at least one hit in P packs is 1 minus (1 minus 1/N) to the power of P. This calculator does that math and also shows how many hits you should expect on average.
Do more packs guarantee a hit?
No. Even at long odds you can open a full box and pull nothing, or hit twice early. The calculator shows probability, not certainty. That randomness is the whole thrill and the whole risk.
Where do I find pack odds?
Stated insertion odds are printed on the pack wrapper or the sell sheet for the product. Enter the "1 in N" number into this tool.
